The African Women Leaders Network (AWLN), in partnership with Empowering Women in Agriculture (EWA), will co-convene the 9th EWA-AWLN High-Level Breakfast Meeting on Friday, 13 February 2026, on the margins of the 39th African Union Heads of State and Government Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Scheduled from 07:30 to 11:30 EAT at the Hilton Hotel, this high-level convening will bring together Heads of State, senior policymakers, African women leaders, development partners, private sector actors, civil society organizations, and women farmers to advance dialogue, accountability, and collective action in support of women’s leadership in agriculture and food systems transformation.

From AWLN's perspective, the High-Level Breakfast Meeting serves as a strategic advocacy and accountability platform to elevate women’s voices, particularly women in rural areas, within continental policy and decision-making spaces.

Through its partnership with EWA, AWLN continues to promote inclusive leadership, gender-responsive policies, and strengthened investment frameworks that place women at the center of Africa’s agricultural and economic transformation.

The 2026 edition will spotlight the achievements, impact, and challenges of both EWA and AWLN initiatives, and honour the vital contributions of women in agriculture, marking the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF 2026).
